Kimberly Snyder’s Official Glowing Green Smoothie (R) Recipe

Glowing Green Smoothie

Please note: For maximum health and beauty benefits, it is necessary to NOT only drink the Glowing Green Smoothie but also follow the whole Beauty Detox program.

Drinking the Glowing Green Smoothie (GGS) is a great way to incorporate tremendous amounts of greens into your diet – far more than just eating your veggies. A serving of the GGS contains over 3 cups of dark leafy green vegetables, which is more than many people get in a week!

Greens have more valuable nutrients than any other food group on the planet. You might be surprised to learn that greens even have high-quality, easily-assimilated amino acids – enough to build the protein that supports the muscle mass of the mighty, greens-eating gorilla, which pound-for-pound is the strongest animal on earth!

Blending helps make greens’ full spectrum of nutrition readily available to the body. Nutrients are encased inside plant cells and getting their benefits requires these cells’ walls to be ruptured. Greens need to be worked down to a creamy consistency, but most people simply don’t chew that much! Blending addresses this problem, helping your body absorb the maximum amount of nutrition from your greens.

This is the drink that I drink every day, and have all my clients drink to feel and look their best. I hope that it will become part of your daily life as well.

I generally recommend starting out consuming around 16 ounces of the Glowing Green Smoothie, and then working up to 24 ounces or more. A Vitamix blender is definitely recommended to make this smoothie, so that it’s smooth, silky, and delicious in only a few minutes of prep time and cleanup.

The advantage of making a big batch like this one is time and convenience. Unlike juice, the Glowing Green Smoothie will keep in your refrigerator, as long as it’s covered, for about two and a half days. You can share it with your family or roommates, or have it yourself over that time period. You can also freeze portion sizes of it in glass containers and thaw out the night before in a bind.

Ongoing cleansing is a critical way to reach your highest potential of health and beauty. The Glowing Green Smoothie retains all of the fiber of the greens and fruit, rather than removing it. In nature, vegetables and fruit are found with both their fiber and juice intact, and we can’t improve on nature. Fiber is critical for ongoing cleansing by sweeping out toxins on a regular basis, helping to keep your digestive tract and body clean, and also keeping you more full so that you tent to eat less heavier and/or acidic foods throughout the day.

Note: I encourage you to mix and match your greens and fruit. Vary this recipe with kale, chard, arugula, and the like. Just avoid melons, as they don’t combine well with other produce.

Ingredients (64 ounces / 2-4 servings)

  • 1 ½- 2 cups very cold, filtered water
  • 6 cups spinach, chopped
  • 5 cups organic romaine lettuce, chopped
  • 2 stalks of organic celery
  • 1 organic apple, cored and chopped
  • 1 organic pear, cored and chopped
  • 1 organic banana
  • 1–2 Tbs. fresh organic lemon juice

Optional Ingredients

  • Ice cubes (the extra coldness can help newbies with the taste)
  • 1/2 cup of organic cilantro
  • 1/2 cup of organic parsley

Directions

Add water, spinach and chopped romaine to the blender. Starting the blender on a low speed; mix until smooth.
Gradually move to higher speeds and add the herbs, celery, pear, and apple. Add the banana and lemon juice last.

*For 1 serving, cut out one of the fruits and the celery.

Remember, your overall diet and lifestyle, and how you are cleansing out waste regularly are critical to you getting the results you want. You can’t just drink the GGS and expect maximum results…Be sure to read The Beauty Detox Solution to learn the entire program! It includes the crucial information to understand how to eat for beauty, as well as recipes, meal plans, and much more.

If you enjoy this drink, be sure to share it on Facebook or retweet on Twitter :)

Kimberly- Many thanks for the great smoothie recipe! I’ve been doing all kinds of smoothies since I was in high school (many moons ago!!!), and in fact have some spectacular ones from the old Oak Street Health Bar in Laguna Beach, back in the day! I look forward to more! Aloha, Monica

  2. Lynn July 11, 2009 at 8:48 pm #

I saw you on a portion of Good Morning America. I have one question, how long does the green smoothie last in the fridge? Can you freeze it?

    Thanks

    • kimberlysnyder July 12, 2009 at 11:02 pm #

HI Lynn, It keeps for 2 days, 3 days max in the fridge. If time is a major issue, you could absolutely freeze it and thaw it the night before or so. Enzymes hold up pretty good in the cold freezer (just not in the heat), so freezing is an option.

How does it really taste? I am a horrible eater…don’t like veggies (plain salad only) or red meat (fish and chicken only) at all! I workout 3-4X a week but don’t eat well. I’m about 20 pounds overweight.

Thank You and Love your blog!!

Thanks Kim… im freezing mine today!!!

        Hi kimberly,
Can I use kale instead of spinach? Do I need celery, I don’t have now and I want to try it. My blender is broken I use the food processor to make smoothies, can I use it for this smoothie?
        Thanks

        • Kimberly Snyder February 1, 2012 at 5:25 pm #

Hi Jacqueline, yes kale is great! If you have a good food processor that could probably work. Be sure to chew your GGS well, to mix some saliva and the enzyme amylase into each mouthful. xx

Hi, I do have a Vitamix…I just blew the dust off of to try the smoothie. For a beginner is there anything I can do to add more of a sweet taste or just tasty?

  3. Jenny July 11, 2009 at 9:20 pm #

Kimberly, where did you study nutrition? I will be a licensed esthetician in December and would LOVE to combine my two greatest passions. I don’t have much desire to study mainstream nutrition, however, and am looking for a program with a more holistic approach. Love your blog, and your product sounds amazing!!!

    • kimberlysnyder July 13, 2009 at 10:28 pm #

      Hi Jenny,
I wish I could recommend a good place to get your licenses, but all the places I have gotten mine were terribly rudimentary and sort of pricey. You can try the California School of Integrative Nutrition I think it’s called, to get a license (again not really recommended though!). Those are just formalities really- 99.99% of my knowledge comes directly from working with teachers here in New York and around the world- being with them, making food with them, and having many, many hours long intense conversations.
So where you live, I would seek out good, real teachers, or communities of people that are interested in the same kind of health ideas you are into, and you can share ideas!
good luck and come visit again,
      Kimberly

hi jenny, ive been an esthetician for 6 years and am currently going to school for nutrition also. im getting my bachelors in science in holistic health. the school is a home studies program and its called the global college of natural medicine. i really think i lucked out and found a great school, you should definitely check them out http://www.gcnm.com hope that helps!

  4. BlueCat July 11, 2009 at 9:59 pm #

Does this ever really get “smooth?” I made mine in a good food processor and while the taste is OK, the texture is a little hard to swallow…literally.

    • kimberlysnyder July 13, 2009 at 10:56 pm #

      Hi BlueCat-
Uh uh. If you put this in a food processor it will be nasty!!!!!!!!!!! Even a crappy blender won’t work so good.

You really need a decent blender to make this. If you don’t have one, and you use a crappy one, at least put it in for a while, and it will get smooth….but warm. So be sure to make it the night before so it has time to cool for the morning!

      Keep in touch.
      xx Kimberly

      • Debi January 10, 2012 at 6:56 pm #

        Kimberly,
I have a crappy blender and a great food processor which I know won’t work very well for the shake/smoothie. The problem is I can’t afford a Vitamix blender. Is there a less expensive good chose?

    • Kelly J January 3, 2012 at 6:44 am #

I have a really old and pretty worn out blender, but I was able to make the texture smooth by chopping the veggies/fruit in to small pieces and blending for longer periods of time. I also stop blending and pulse every now and then to get a good mix. I make mine ahead of time so I don’t have to worry about it being warm (it never really is anyway). It’s a bit more labor intensive, but I enjoy drinking this and I’m pretty sure I won’t ever have the room in my budget for a Vitamix.

  5. Les July 12, 2009 at 12:16 am #

Great job at the interview. I forwarded it to friends, none of whom have weight-loss needs, but are very health conscious. In that I think the abc article is not accurately titled.

    • kimberlysnyder July 13, 2009 at 10:58 pm #

Hi Les, thanks for forwarding it to your friends!!! The title is meant to be about what appeals the most to the most people, but you and I know it is really about health, and the weight loss is just a natural byproduct of premier health. :)

  6. Jan July 12, 2009 at 9:02 am #

I need to know if I will be embearessed in the office by uncontrollable gas and having to run not walk to the restroom way down the hall.

    • kimberlysnyder July 13, 2009 at 11:08 pm #

      Hi Jan,
Good question! You can sip the smoothie slowly and see how you do. You do not have to shoot it down like a juice.
It should be the first food to enter you body. Bloating and gas are often caused by eating any carbs (toast, etc.) or protein (eggs) BEFORE eating fruit (and there is some in the smoothie). So be sure to not eat anything first (which is important for other reasons also!) and it should help a lot.

It general this will NOT make you have diarrhea, but I”m not sure of your dietary and health background so it is hard for me to say for you specifially. It is very cleansing, for the reasons I talk about, but this is NOT a laxative. If there are some surface toxins that your body wants to purge out initially, then you may experience more and bigger bowel movements at first, but again- this is not designed to be a drastic, “get everything out right away” plan. this is meant to ease you and your body into the plan, and continuously remove the toxins and cleanse you.

let me know how you do. Have no fear :)
      xx Kimberly

  7. Bob Brennan July 12, 2009 at 2:30 pm #

Kim, I like your green smoothie however, I have a few questions. Should I take the stems off the cilantro and parsley? I drink at least one carafe of decaf green tea daily. Will this be ok combined with your green smoothie? Im going right now to look for a Vitamix blender because I have read alot of about it. My blender is ok but doesnt make the smoothie smooth enough. Is the blender important?

    • kimberlysnyder July 13, 2009 at 11:16 pm #

      Hey Bob,
The blender is really important! To not only make it smooth but get maximum nutrition out of the cell plant walls. I love my Vitamix.

Wait at least 20 minutes on either side of your smoothie to have all that tea. The liquid could dilute our body’s hydrochloric acid and other digestive juices- which could interfere with the nutrition absorption of the smoothie!

And don’t worry about the stems..as long as you don’t mind the taste!
      xx Kimberly

      • Laura December 19, 2011 at 6:30 pm #

        Hi Kimberly,
I have been making the smoothie for a few weeks now and I have been really enjoying it. I hear a lot about the benefits of green tea so I was wondering if I can replace the water in the recipe with cold green tea (I tried it today and the taste was fine) I was just wondering if you would advise against this for any reason?

        • Kimberly Snyder December 20, 2011 at 6:07 pm #

          Hi Laura,
The GGS is meant to be a completely nourishing, cleansing elixir on all levels. While green tea has some benefits, such as antioxidants, it is also somewhat acidic and has a decent amount of caffeine. I do not recommend using it instead of water.
          xx

Kimberly, Saw you on GMA and was very interested in trying your recipe. I have tried and am very impressed with the immediate results. My question is this; can the green smoothie be taken daily along with the weekly detox smoothie?

  9. Hortencia July 13, 2009 at 2:44 am #

    Hi Kimberly,
Also saw you on GMA and appreciated your concise commentaries on all the detox methods. We have already tried the Green Smoothie and are planning to incorporate it in our lives (hubby & me). By the way, we love the cilantro! ;)

Ours is pretty thick, & has seemed to oxidize overnight. Is that okay? Any TIPS?

OH! We also love they way you quickly & clearly explain WHY each of the ingredients or recipe is so good for us!!!! THX!

    • kimberlysnyder July 16, 2009 at 9:25 pm #

      Hey Hortencia-
the Blender you use is important. Make sure you use a good one! Like the Vitamix.

To prevent as much oxidation as possible, be sure to keep in an airtight container.
      xx Kimberly

      • Marie July 17, 2009 at 4:54 pm #

I just bought a Blendtec at Amazon.com – same type as used at Jamba Juice but for the home.. it works great! and is made in the USA.

        • kimberlysnyder July 23, 2009 at 9:15 am #

Thanks Marie! I haven’t heard of the Blendtec. How much does it cost?

          • Holly December 30, 2011 at 2:42 am #

They start out at $435.00 and go up to $1,035.00. They are the best blenders!!

            • Kristen January 6, 2012 at 5:12 am #

Well, personally I think the VitaMix blenders are the best :p.

But the Blendtech vs VitaMix debate is like, which is better Chevy or Ford….

At the end of the day, you bought a blender that will make amazing smoothies and your body won’t know the different :)

  11. Carmen July 13, 2009 at 1:35 pm #

    Kimberly,

I’m very interested in trying the Green Smoothie and the Detox Smoothie. I see you also have the Ultimate Smoothie. Can you tell me the best way of taking these smoothies. I would like to taking the Green Smoothie daily and the Detox Smoothie at least 3x a week as you recommended. When should I drink these.

What the different between the Green Smoothie vs Ultimate Smoothie. Should I alternate the smoothies or stick to one only.

Can you please also recommend a colonic in Chicago.

    Thx

    • kimberlysnyder July 16, 2009 at 9:42 pm #

      Hey Carmen,
Definitely the Green Smoothie should be eaten every day. Make the Green Smoothie recipe that I posted recently- it is updated and tastes even better!

That is the most important, because the greens are alkaline and healing. Drink this as the first meal of the day, when you start to get really hungry and need food.

The detox smoothie can be drank even just once a day. First meal or first thing in the morning. These are both morning drinks, and because of the fruit, should NEVER be eaten after cooked food!
For colonics- don’t know a place in Chicago, but ask and make sure they are Gravity centered colonics!

i have been drinking this every morning and I’m starting to really like it, its one of those drinks hats new so it can take getting use to! but I’m really liking it now!

I have some other questions though like what a raw diet is and how do you start a raw diet? I am already a vegetarian and i do go vegan a couple days a week but I’m really curious about eating raw and what that can do for you on a daily bases.

    • kimberlysnyder July 16, 2009 at 9:46 pm #

      Hi Karabear,

It’s best to ease into raw slowly.

Start with the first meal of the day being raw. It should be the Green Smoothie, or some fruit, or if you have sugar problems, you can make it an avocado or even some raw veggies!
I’m not sure if you eat a lot of soy in your diet? But if you do, as you transition into raw and cut out soy, you will see bloat and puffiness go down, energy go up, your skin get better and feel very calm.
Now there are unhealthy ways to eat raw also- all those dehydrated burgers and things– those should be in moderation, but not the main foods!
There is a lot to explain, which hopefully I will in my upcoming book. :)
      Come visit again!

i have been drinking the drink and I am slowly starting to like it s much better! and its so filling so I love drinking it for breakfast because I’m not really a breakfast person.

I have been very interested in your raw diet and want to know how to get started eating raw and what a raw diet can do for you on a daily bases and its long term effect? I am already a vegetarian and a vegan a few times a week but i keep hearing you rave about eating raw so I am very interested. If you could help me out that would be amazing thank you so much!

  14. Kat July 13, 2009 at 7:21 pm #

    Kimberly,

I made a batch and love it – but I have a question. Can I add silken tofu for protein or is there something I can add for that?

    Kat

    • kimberlysnyder July 16, 2009 at 9:49 pm #

      HI Kat,
If you want to add protein, you can, but it will make it more thick!

If you can handle it my friend, go for it! Protein powders are good in the beginning to add more weight and make us more full. As you get lighter and more clean, you’ll see that you need them less and less.

I am NOT a fan of soy products. They are processed, genetically modified, and mess with our protein absorption and hormones. If you want to use protein, try Raw Hemp protein, which you can get at Wholefoods or the healthfood store. I like Ruth’s and the Nutiva brands!

      xx Kimberly

Hi Kimberly! This blog got me thinking….have you done any blogs on food combinations that are helpful/hurtful to the body? I am interested in learning more about that topic!
p.s. I just discovered Peacefood Cafe on 82nd and Amsterdam – they make a lovely Brazil Nut Milk Chai Tea!

  17. Chris Gilmore July 15, 2009 at 1:25 pm #

I would like to know if you for the whole bunch of green in the blender for just the leaves? I make this and ended up with 6 cups. What did I do wrong? Please get back to me. I looked for an email address and couldn’t find one.

    • kimberlysnyder July 19, 2009 at 9:25 am #

      Hi Chris,
You would put the whole bunch of leaves in there. Different romaine heads are different sizes, so if you want to make a bit less just cut back on the leaves a bit.
Be sure to drink at least 16 ounces a day!
Let me know how you do.
      xx Kimberly

  18. Angela July 15, 2009 at 6:36 pm #

    Hello,

My co-worker & I saw you on GMA and I’ve been studying your website! :)

We are wondering if you prefer to use a blender or a juicer for the Green Smoothie. We are very motivated and cannot wait to make this smoothie!

Thanks for your awesome website! You are very informative!!

    • kimberlysnyder July 19, 2009 at 9:36 am #

      Hey Angela,
yay, that is awesome that you guys can check out the blog at work. :) And make some healthy shifts!

In the beginning I recommend the average person to start the Green Smoothie. There is a lot of fiber in it, which more people generally need, and it is a bit easier since most people have a blender. Also, it is way more filling and closer to food, so it can be a better meal replacement to start, and that helps people cut down on their volume of food, which will increase their alkalinity and weight loss efforts.
If someone is in a very alkaline state right now- then they could choose to make a green juice instead if they prefer, but I can’t know that unless I know your health background!
See what seems intuitively best for you.
Let me know how you guys do!!
      Love, Kimberly

  19. morgan July 16, 2009 at 10:36 am #

    Hi Kim–

I didn’t see the interview on GMA, but I do see all of these great questions pouring in, so you clearly made a big impression–congrats on reaching so many people. Obviously you struck a nerve with a lot of people!
On the topic of green smoothies, I was doing really well for a while, and found that my body didn’t even want coffee in the morning. Then I fell off the bandwagon and noticed my coffee intake creeping back up. Since there’s no caffine in the greens, what’s that about? I really enjoyed not feeling addicted to coffee (I mean, like I would be jonesing in the shower to get out and gulp some down–that bad), so I’m trying to get back to green drinks in the morning first thing. But why does it “negate” coffee addiction–or is it just me?

Thank you so much, and have a beautiful day,

    Morgan

    • kimberlysnyder July 19, 2009 at 10:07 am #

      Hi Morgan,
No! It is not just you!! There is so much alkalinity in the greens, that are “predigested” because they are blended, that your body will not have to work hard to derive the nutrition.
You will get “woken” up by the alkalinity, and have a ton of energy as all those minerals come rushing in.
It is very common to stop drinking coffee once you have the Green Smoothie, and many people have written that to me! It is a major effect.
We can stop using all those processed stimulants the more greens we have. :)

Hope all else is well and come visit me again soon!
      Love, Kimberly

  20. Em July 17, 2009 at 12:14 pm #

    Hello Kimberly

Have been using the smoothie since I saw you on ABC. Love it although the celery is not fully dissolved.

Would you believe I feel so much better during the day and is not even eating as much.

Can I use regular veggies sometimes if I don’t have the organic ones?

    Thanks

    • Marie July 17, 2009 at 4:49 pm #

Hi Kim! One week on the Green Smoothie .
I love the flavor and have not had coffee all week.
I feel great and truly “cleansed”… thank you so much!

      question:
My friend want to try but can’t quite get used to the taste, would apple juice and/or water would be OK to use?

      • kimberlysnyder July 23, 2009 at 9:15 am #

        HI Marie!
That is so great that you are getting great results on the Green Smoothie already!! :)

I’m not really sure about your friend’s question about the apple juice or water— there is water and apples in the smoothie itself. Do you mean add more?? Or do them on their own? Apple juice, unless freshly squeezed, is pasteurized and has been heated, so no more enzymes. The greens are the key to the whole drink, as they are injecting chlorophyll, oxygen, and tons of nutrients right into your system.
Let me know if I didn’t answer your question though- and keep in touch with me about your progress!
        xx Kimberly

    • kimberlysnyder July 23, 2009 at 9:10 am #

      Hi Em,
Yes, I would believe it that you feel great and have so much energy!!! :)

And yes, if you don’t have access to organic veggies use the regular ones- just soak them for a while if you can and/or wash them really, really well.
Keep in touch with me about your progress!
      Love, Kimberly

    • Sue July 20, 2009 at 6:55 pm #

      Hello,

I tried the green smoothie and I was pleasantly surprised that I actually liked it. My question is do you have the nutritional information on this specific blend?

      Thanks ~ Sue

      • Kate July 27, 2009 at 5:16 pm #

Did you get the information on the Nutritional Facts?

      • Sue July 27, 2009 at 5:26 pm #

I didn’t get the nutritional information. Can you post it?

        Thanks, Sue

        • kimberlysnyder July 31, 2009 at 2:02 pm #

          Hi Sue and Kate,
The Green Smoothie is full of alkaline minerals, phytochemicals, enzymes and vitamins. It is predigested, and goes through the body very quickly, giving nourishment and leaving very little in the way of waste residue and toxicity. I don’t count calories, fat grams, or carbs- my system is different in that I look at the quality of the food, and not just in terms of what its nutritional content is, but also and very importantly, how it interacts, affects, and digests in the body. An avocado can have 400 calories and 14 grams of fat, but be much more slimming than the bag of soy chips, with 300 calories and 5 grams of fat, because the soy chips are mucus-forming and doesn’t digest as cleanly.
So you’ll never hear me mention numbers, as I think there is a lot more too it, but rather the quality of a food’s nutrition and interaction with the body.

Let me know if you have any more questions!
          All my best,
          Kimberly

      Hey Dave–
The variety comes from mixing up the greens and fruits. You can make wildly different tastes- even adding tomato as the fruit if you are a savory guy, using spinach, etc.
The goal is to get a ton of greens into the diet, blended and predigested, with some fruit to balance.

    Hi Kim,

I picked up all the ingredients to make my first Green Smoothie, I am very excited about it. I have recently did a lifestyle change by incorporating more veggies, more workouts and trying to be more peaceful. My question is with all the veggies I am buying for the Smoothie and to eat, how can I keep my vegetables and fruit as best and as long as possible? Thank you so much and keep inspiring…Eraina

    • kimberlysnyder July 31, 2009 at 2:07 pm #

      Hi Eraina,
That is wonderful about your lifestyle changes! As for being more peaceful, check out my blog, “The Easiest Weight Loss Tip Ever” about breathing. Breathing slowly, deeply and through the nose is essential to keeping the mind even and peaceful, and it is a very worthwhile practice for you to incorporate along with your other positive changes!

Keep your veggies covered in plastic bags or reuseable zip lock bags, to avoid wilting by too much contact with the air. Keep your fruits in the fridge, except for the bananas! If you have a farmer’s market nearby, it is just awesome right now! Only wash them until right before using.
      Keep in touch!
      All my very best,
      Kimberly

    Hi Kimberly –
Nice piece on GMA this morning 8/9.
Quick comment only on this post, though…When you say you “Love deserts”, it refers to the sandy, barren landscape…I think you mean “desserts”, with two esses…
Thought you might want to know. ;)
Thanks for a nice blog site – Have a good week,

Kim, I have tried the green smoothie for a week now and have developed a rash. It started in the fold of my arms and has spread up and down my arms, a little on my stomach and a little on my legs. Could this be from the smoothie?

    • kimberlysnyder August 14, 2009 at 12:36 pm #

      Hi Lillian,
Wow, I would definitely recommend seeing a doctor! I have no idea what could be causing that.
The Green Smoothie can stimulate a strong cleansing response in people, and they go to the bathroom a lot, or have to eat something afterwards as they feel lightheaded- all cleansing responses- but I’ve never heard of a rash!
So please go check it out and let me know how you do.
All my very best and take care,
      Kimberly

  25. Hortencia August 14, 2009 at 2:54 am #

Thank you so much Kimberly for all your help & guidance. I did start the daily good probiotic. I had it but wasn’t taking it daily – so now am.

Overall, I had pretty much cut out most sugar – as having educated myself I now understand so much more of the vicious influx of sugar in so many of our American foods. So, when I read what you posted I thought it would be okay & that it would be easy but then I had such a difficult time – I would almost make it then I would have “just one little artificially sweetened thing” like crystal light (I know). I just couldn’t understand why I was having such a difficult time.

I talked to my doc (founder of an advance way of thinking center) about it and she recommended glucosupreme herbal & chromium to help curb the cravings.

Anywhoo, I just tried those goji’s and then fell in love with the goldenberry – so I really had to buy that one! Kind of expensive but these may be the ones that finally turn me on to this way of life….or at least keep me on it steady””ish. 

I feel so honored that I have found you and you are so generous that your sharing your knowledge. I believe you are going to make it big, big, big. You are really to explode. And I think the US is more into accepting these “new” views. As for me, I have been giving raving views & have written out the green smoothie recipe many times now plus have emailed those wonderful macaroons recipe!!!!

    Hugs xxx & smile :)

    • kimberlysnyder August 14, 2009 at 12:57 pm #

      Hi Hortencia!
It is great to hear from you and all your kind, sweet words! Thank you for your support! Please pass the blog on to all your friends so they can be part of our community. :)

Yes, sugar is a big deal in our country especially, as it is snuck into everything! Did I talk to you about the Stevia? It is a great sweetener alternative and has no affect on the blood sugar levels. Chromium is also great as it helps us metabolize sugar much more efficiently. Cinnamon and parsley would be good foods for you to bring into your diet for that same reason.

The probiotic will also start to help with any yeast overgrowths, and that will also keep sugar in check. The yeasts love to live off sugar, so if you start to transition away they will cry out it the form of intense cravings, “Feed me!” “Feeeeeed me!” As you continue to cleanse, just remember that you won’t feel like this all the time, it will get better!

Keep in touch on how you do.
      Lots of love,
      Kimberly

  26. Billie August 24, 2009 at 7:14 pm #

    Hi Kim,

Tried the green smoothie this morning. Loved it! I read about it on a blog for relaxed hair health. How long before I notice improvements to my hair, skin, and nails? Do you know how many servings of fruits and vegetables in 16oz of green smoothie? What do you think of replacing the 1 1/2 cups of water with green tea?

    Thanks,

    Billie

    • kimberlysnyder August 30, 2009 at 10:07 pm #

      Hi Billie!

It depends on the state of health and alkalinity your body was currently in when you started drinking the Green Smoothie, and what the rest of your diet is/was like. Usually people start seeing improvements fairly quickly, like in a few weeks!
I don’t recommend putting green tea in the smoothie! Tea is full of tannins, and is acidic and has caffeine. It will acidify the pure vegetables and fruits – and the whole goal is to become more alkaline. So save the tea for having it on its own- and at least 30 minutes away from the Green Smoothie. :)
      Come visit again!
      xx Kimberly

  27. Trish August 29, 2009 at 11:49 am #

Hi Kimberly, I love the green smoothie. I am to the point where I crave it now. Two things; 1., Can I mix some ground flax seed in it? And 2., this may just be me but I noticed some incidental weight loss(3 lbs. over two weeks), which was a pleasant surprise. Is this a possible side effect?

    • kimberlysnyder August 30, 2009 at 10:25 pm #

      Hi Trish,
Weight loss is a sure sign of detoxification and cleansing, which is what the Green Smoothie is all about!
If you want, you can for sure put the ground flax seed in the smoothie, but it will make it a heavier meal. Seeds take about 3 hours in the stomach to digest. You can probably eat a lighter lunch if you do that- or hold off to eat again for longer.
Let me know how you do!
      xx Kimberly

  28. Samantha M. September 3, 2009 at 2:48 pm #

    Hey Kim,
I recently made the Green Smoothie. I noticed only the celery in it. It was kinda over powering. I like celery but it was a little too much. I couldn’t even finish the smoothie. I am wondering if there is a good substitute for the celery. The summer green smoothie was good though.

    • kimberlysnyder September 9, 2009 at 9:09 am #

      Hey Samantha!
You don’t have to use celery if you don’t like it! Stick to the greens you like that will make you want to keep drinking the Green Smoothie. You could try kale, cucumber, red leaf lettuce instead! :)
      xx Kimberly

      • Pat January 5, 2012 at 6:58 am #

If kale, collard greens, or other similar greens are used, can they be used raw, or do they have to be cooked first?

  29. Carley September 13, 2009 at 5:19 pm #

    Hi Kimberly,

Do you drink green smoothies even in the winter? Do you adjust your diet at all for the colder season?

    Thanks,
    Carley

    • kimberlysnyder September 15, 2009 at 12:33 pm #

      Hi Carley-
Yes, green drinks all year ’round! In the colder season, I definitely make adjustments. I have more cooked food, like 10-15% of my diet for about the 3-4 coldest months in NY. For cooked food, it is still absolutely vegan, but high quality grains like millet and quinoa with my salad, or clear vegetable soups or miso soup. I also have a lot more tea! I also have some sweet potatoes or yams with my salad for dinner sometimes. It is important to adjust!
      xx Kimberly

    Hi Kim!

I got a Vitamix for me birthday last week and made my first green smoothie this morning. It is SOOOO delish! But how do I store the rest of it for later? And how long will it keep in the fridge?

Thanks so much for all of your inspiration!

    Summer Gamble

    • kimberlysnyder September 22, 2009 at 6:54 pm #

      Hey Summer!
You can store it for up to 3 days, thought it is probably best to keep it for about 2. Be sure to cover airtight!
Yay!!!! I’m so glad you like it. :)
      xx Kimberly

  31. Eraina September 29, 2009 at 3:46 pm #

    Hi Kimberly,

I saw that you mentioned you take probiotics. Is that every day and also are there any particular ones you recommend? Btw, getting my Vitamix tomorrow, so excited! Is it occasionally alright to drink some of the Green Smoothie as dinner? I think since it makes a few servings, it’d be a great dinner that is already ready…thx! -Eraina

  32. Luci September 30, 2009 at 12:55 pm #

    Hi Kimberly,
I’m trying to figure out if my blender is blending as smooth as it should. I’m willing to get a Vitamix, but want to make sure I need it. When I drink my smoothie, it almost feels more natural to chew it a bit. Is it possible to get the smoothie truly smooth?

    Thanks!
    Luci

    Heeelloo!!

Or would it taste bad, or would i not get all the needed green stuff in my body within the one glass???

loool sorry for being so confusing!!! thanks so much for all the great tips! x x x x

  34. Jessica October 23, 2009 at 3:27 pm #

I’m wanting to try your Green Smoothie to detox myself. I would it be beneficial if I has anxiety and depression?

    • kimberlysnyder November 2, 2009 at 12:01 am #

      Hi Jessica,
When your body is alkaline and balanced is will help your mind become so also! When we are very acidic (too much meat, dairy, caffeine, etc.) it can contribute to anxiety and depression. The body and mind are intricately connected!
Also Omega 3 fats (walnuts, acai, hemp seeds, etc.) are good for depression. :)
Let me know how you do!
      xx Kimberly

  35. Jody October 26, 2009 at 10:11 pm #

    Kimberly,

Thank you again for a great blog. How long do you blend the green smoothie for? I have a vitamix and the motor was starting to smell and it is still not blended well :(

Do we keep adding more than the required water? I have already added 1 extra cup and feel like that is diluting it? Maybe not?

  36. samantha newbanks November 8, 2009 at 12:50 pm #

Kimberly I was wondering what diet you would recommend while nursing. I am also trying to workout a hour a day. I really want to get healthy. My mom passed unexpected/tragically and I want to be healthy for my two little girls and be around for as long as I can. Please give me suggestions.

    • kimberlysnyder November 9, 2009 at 3:42 am #

      Hi Samantha,
I’m so sorry to hear about your loss. My heart goes out to you! Thank God you are blessed with your little bundles of joy, and that you can direct your love and energy into taking care of them. I am sure you are an amazing mother!

Since you are nursing, I must say that you should check with your doctor before making any dietary changes, and to see what he/she recommends. But I will say that the Green Smoothie is packed with phytonutrients and minerals, and is very alkaline- all of which is amazing and would help make your body, and therefore possibly your milk, extremely healthy. There are lots of suggestions in my blog on healthy eating if you nose around, on such topics as healthy fats like Acai and avocados, etc., but again be sure to check with our doctor. Also, have you tried yoga? I think it would be great for you as well, especially a form of yoga that focuses on your breath (pranayama). That way, your body will be more oxygenated, and you will gain all over strength. I think walking in the fresh air and getting a bit of sunlight would be really refreshing for you, and you could take the girls in their strollers! Please keep in touch and let me know how you are doing, and if you have any other specific questions.
With love and sending you peace!
      xx Kimberly

I obtained your recipe for the Smoothie Skin Facial. The recipe says to tun all the ingredients through a juicer. I do not have a juicer, so I’m not sure how a juicer works. Can I use my blender? Thanks so much.

    Lisa

P.S. I had my 1st green smoothie this morning. Excited to see the how I feel in a couple of weeks!

    • kimberlysnyder December 8, 2009 at 11:47 pm #

      Hi Lisa!
Great! Focus on the Green Smoothie since you don’t have a juicer. You’ll have great results from that. :)

    Hi Kimberly,
I teach a special education class in NC, and we have a cooking lesson every week. In the past, for St. Patrick’s Day, I’ve taught the class how to make an ice cream based green mint milkshake. With all of the new knowledge I’ve gained from your site and others, I’m going 100% vegan, and this year, our class will be making a HEALTHY green smoothie for St. Patrick’s Day. I can hardly wait to see how the students like it! Thanks for the recipe.

    • kimberlysnyder February 28, 2010 at 1:28 pm #

Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is fantastic!!!!!!!!! I would bet your kids’ can concentrate better with no dairy and a great diet. :)

  39. Krysten February 28, 2010 at 12:57 am #

I’m a vegetarian and have been looking into veganism for awhile now, and discovered your website looking up raw vegan info. I’ve never had a green smoothie before but they look great, so after checking out your recipes I went to the store and picked up the ingredients for this green smoothie. I don’t have a vitamix so I used my VillaWare Smoothie Maker (blender). I wasn’t sure how well it would do with making the smoothie nice and smooth, so I chopped up the ingredients into small pieces. It turned out pretty frothy – no chunks – however, I couldn’t stand the taste!! It was just horrible – I added a second banana and some more lemon juice – still bad – then added some frozen berries – still bad. I ended up throwing it all away. This was a few days ago and I haven’t gotten the nerve up to try another green smoothie yet, but I will eventually. There are so many green smoothie recipes out there, there’s got to be one that I’ll like, right? I hope so! Are there any green smoothie recipes that you would suggest for someone who is a picky eater and new to smoothies w/veggies in them? Thank you!

    • kimberlysnyder February 28, 2010 at 1:26 pm #

      HI Krysten!
Be sure you are drinking it very cold. To start use your fav greens, like romaine or spinach, then add celery and your fav. fruit (no melon though). The blender should be good enough it gets really smooth.. In the beginning until you are used to it, fruit can be about 50%.
Let me know how you do!! Don’t give up. :)

  40. Sherri March 9, 2010 at 1:48 pm #

My friend introduced me to your green smoothie about 3 months ago. Now me and my daughter drink them for breakfast and I do for lunch as well. Every once in a while for dinner. Love love love the detox smoothie.

Question: do you use the stems of the parsely and cilantro?

    • kimberlysnyder March 9, 2010 at 2:44 pm #

Yay that is wonderful! Sometimes I juice them if I have a bunch of stems add up. :)

hi ! i was looking for a way to make my diet more healthy, and i was lucky i found you ! i just made the green smoothie, mmm, so good ! thanks a lot !

  42. Barbara Martinek March 14, 2010 at 1:23 pm #

I was introduced to the green smoothie on GMA. I’ve been on it for several months. I recently had my yearly physical and cholesterol check. My HDL or good cholesterol is 84. Eighty frickin four! The optimum is 50 to 80. I am so pleased. My bad cholesterol is down at 92. I’ve dropped a few pounds. I’m hooked. I’m just turned 44 and I’m healthier than I’ve ever been.

  43. dw March 25, 2010 at 4:01 pm #

I am healthy and have a normal pregnancy (4 months along). Is this OK to drink during pregnancy? I think so, but just wanted to see.

    Thanks!

    • kimberlysnyder March 26, 2010 at 12:04 pm #

I think so…but I would check with your doctor before introducing any new foods this far along in your pregnancy.
Blessings to you and this magic time!

Hey Kimberly love reading all the questions on your blog there was one that hit the spot with me by Lillian Aug 13 2009 she said she got rash on her body. I to have developed a rash from my earlopes down the jaw line and spots here and there from drinking smoothies> I just love them and would hate to stop has anyone else had this problem?

    • Jax August 11, 2011 at 11:21 pm #

I get rashes on my lips if i eat apples, even more so if they aren’t organic due to all the pesticides. Hopefully u are using organic fruits and veggies! Thats the only way to go.

      • Jax August 11, 2011 at 11:23 pm #

Also, i did get small rashes on my lips and mouth because i wasn’t using organic pears in the beginning. But i know ive always had this problem. Could be bad lettuce or spinach too if they aren’t organic

  45. Randi May 2, 2010 at 6:09 pm #

I have been drinking this for almost 2 weeks now. I crave it, that’s how much I’m hooked on it. I feel great. Thanks so much for the recipe!

  46. Gary Harders May 4, 2010 at 3:40 pm #

First of all, thank you for these recipes. Second, I have a Cuisinart 5 cup blender. Kind of hard to fit in all the ingredients in at once. My wife’s health is such she NEEDS to know so she can drink the smoothies. I am a Gulf War vet who doesn’t have alot of money. I just transitioned out of the Army. So we cannot afford a 500.00 dollar blender. Any of your expert guidance would be greatly appreciated.

    • kimberlysnyder May 6, 2010 at 12:11 pm #

Hi Gary, hmmm. I am going to put a link up to get a Vitamix with free shipping which would save $25. The refurbished ones are around $350 or so I think now.
If that is too much tell your wife to chop the veggies and fruit into small pieces. Blend everything well, even if it takes longer. It will make the mixture warm, but you can store it in your fridge and even make it the night before so it is cold by the time you drink it. Also, half the recipe!
Let me know how you do.
      xx Kimberly

      • Gary Harders May 6, 2010 at 12:32 pm #

That would be wonderful if you could post that link. I am a soldier with a wife who has health problems, a son with ADHD, and a teen-age daughter. So money is not as plentiful as I would like. God Bless You for doing what you do. So we blend the water and the celery, then put it in a pitcher. Then the romaine, pour in pitcher, etc? I want to make sure I understand correctly. My wife’s health depends on it.

      • Gary Harders May 11, 2010 at 1:35 pm #

Does the Vitamix come in different sizes? This way I know what to look for.

        • Heather August 28, 2011 at 5:17 am #

Vitamix gives a discount if you are buying it for health reasons- like 25% off. Check their website…

How long will it take to lose weight drinking one green smoothie portion size (16-24 oz) a day and eating almost all raw. Summer is almost here so i want to look good and feel good. Thank You.

    • kimberlysnyder May 11, 2010 at 1:08 pm #

      Hi JoJo,
Well it depends what your overall diet. Eating all raw doesn’t mean we lose weight! I have lots of raw foodists as clients that have gained weight eating raw. They have lots of concentrated, dehydrated food and nuts. Have the smoothie through the morning, a big salad for lunch w an avocado and no nuts and very little oil, take a probiotic in the morning, and eat a balanced dinner! xx Kimberly

      • Jo Jo May 13, 2010 at 6:43 pm #

Thank you. So if I had the smoothie the salad and a salad for dinner could that be a way to lose weight. I weigh 115 and have a slight belly. I would like to lose about 3 pounds by June 11th. So I’ll try some of your recipes and see where I end up. Thank You again:)

  48. Theresa May 11, 2010 at 2:10 pm #

How many ounces should you drink of the green smoothies at a time or per day?

  49. ryan July 22, 2010 at 9:43 am #

Kimberly, I came upon your wonderful site while searching for green smoothies. I have been experimenting with breakfast as my stomach is sensitive in the mornings. I started off light with just spinach, frozen berries, apple and banana but after about 10-15 minutes had some loose stuff shooting out of me ! This left me fatigued and I had to drink some tea and an energy bar to take me through the morning. Any tips for getting through these first few days ? Thanks ! ryan

  50. Karen Hood-caddy September 3, 2010 at 10:55 am #

Great site and great info. I’m VERY impressed.
Here’s my issue: I love smoothies, but everytime I drink them, even simple ones with a banada, watermelon and spinach, I get diarrhea. Someone suggested I add psyllium –what do you suggest? Will the diarrhea continue? Is there aything else I can do?

    • kimberlysnyder September 8, 2010 at 7:50 pm #

      Hi Karen,
Thanks! It might have to do with other parts of your diet. The Glowing Green Smoothie is very cleansing, and it might be a lot for your system to handle. You can try smaller amounts and build up. Be sure you are having them on an empty stomach. Also- I don’t recommend combining the watermelon with the other fruits and veggies- they don’t combine well. Try green apples.
      xx Kimberly

  51. Mint September 7, 2010 at 12:28 pm #

    Hi Kimberly,

I drink the green smoothie for breakfast but can I have it as my dinner too? I know you said that fruit in the evening can cause weight gain and since the smoothie has apples and pears, I want to make sure I do not gain weight if I drink it for dinner.

    Thanks!
    Mintra

    • kimberlysnyder September 8, 2010 at 7:37 pm #

      Hi Mint-
If you have it later on in the day make sure it is on an empty stomach, so you’ve not eaten for say 3-4 hours! xx

  53. Leigh-Anne December 14, 2010 at 6:12 pm #

    Hi Kimberly,

I have been making green smoothies for over a year now and when I discovered your website 2 weeks I gained some great new recipes! Thank you!

Can you help me with two questions….

    1. Does it matter a whole lot that I use both fresh and frozen produce to make my smoothies? I read somewhere that the enzymes may die when they’re frozen. If that’s true, how does that change the nutritional benefits for me? If I have a ton of spinach leaves that I know I can’t use before they expire I simply toss them in the freezer and add handfuls to my smoothies until I use them all up. I also use frozen strawberries, peaches, blueberries, and raspberries when they are not in season.

    2. Can I replace the apples and pears in your detox smoothie with blueberries, bananas, pineapples, or grapes? I want to have a detox smoothie 2 to 3 times a week and I prefer the taste of those fruits. Would I still be “detoxing” if replaced the fruits with others but kept the lemon/tumeric/cayenne pepper?

Thanks again for sharing your knowledge and experience with the world! It must be a wonderful feeling to fall asleep each night knowing you helped people live a happy, healthy life!

  54. garyharders December 15, 2010 at 3:03 pm #

Miss Kimberly, my wife loves your green smoothie. Is it supposed to be so thick? My wife is down to the weight she was when we were married 13 years ago. Thank you!!! Hugs.

  55. Tania April 12, 2011 at 4:14 pm #

    Hi Kim,

I just saw your smoothie recipe and found your blog and I am AMAZED that you take the time to respond to almost every single post here, there are many websites where questions or comments never get answered, so for that, CHEERS TO YOU! :) I wanted to ask if we can add ICE to the smoothie to make it colder, you mentioned that if the blender is not great, the smoothie may come out warm and not as appetizing. When you can, let me know! I can’t wait to try it! XOXO – Tania

    Dear Kimberly
    Hi from England!
I just discovered you this year via twitter and your tweets have been sinking into my subconscious I think!. Now I found this blog as well. I am not overweight, I am reasonably fit but I don’t feel ‘good’. I get a lot of headaches and my skin isn’t what it used to be before i had children!. I want to feel great.
I don’t drink coffee, only mint tea and I don’t drink alcohol but I am realising from reading your blog that maybe I need to change my diet to work out what is causing it.
Theres so much to take in it can be overwhelming.
I found your videos on youtube, they are great advice.
I am going to start with your green smoothies as I love fruit and veg anyway.
I just wanted to say thanks for putting so much info up here. I went on to Amazon and ordered your book but the smoothie will keep me going until it comes.
I’ve never commented on anyones blog before so I hope thats ok!.
Thanks thanks thanks for all your work :-)

    Hi Kimberly!

First I’d like to say that I am super excited to try my smoothie tomorrow for breakfast! Second, I think it’s so amazing that you respond to all your posters!

Ok, so this is my question for you, I was wondering what the nutritional value of the smoothie? Calories, protein, etc.

    Thanks so much!
    Taryn

    Hi Kimberly:
Recently saw u on access hollywood and was very interested in your smoothie recipe , so I went and bought the ingreds. and tried it for the first time yesterday. Woke up this morning had a coffee and that was it. The bathroom became my second home for 2 hours, ha, ha. I have some health issues and would like to know if this can help me cleanse my bladder as well as the rest of my body. I am 53 years old and would like to live a long and productive life, I lost my sister a few years ago to cancer and vowed to make a lifestlye change then and there. Thanks for this recipe by the way , I love the taste , I eat all the ingreds. regularly. thanks again

      Hi Marilyn!
Of course I recommend that you consult with your doctor, especially since I don’t know your health background or how certain foods and changes might affect you. But I will say that my Glowing Green Smoothie has helped hundreds of people I personally know and have worked with feel more balanced, eliminate processed and toxic foods, and feel and look great! Keep in touch and come visit me again!
      All my best,
      Kimberly

I would like to try this. Would the Vitamix 5200 blender be a good choice. I need to have a liquid consistency to be able to drink it.

    Thank you

    • kimberlysnyder April 19, 2011 at 3:43 am #

Yes! The Vitamix 5200 is amazing!!!

    Hey Kim,

I want to change my eating habits. The smoothies great. But what else should I do to detox. Is the smoothie a breakfast option. And what do u suggest for the other two meals?

  61. gaby April 26, 2011 at 4:25 pm #

    Hey Kim,

Thank you so much for the recipe, I just started and I love it. I had one question though, is the smoothie a breakfast replacement, and can I still drink coffee a few hours after, I almost can’t go without at least one cup of coffee. Please help! =)
THank you so much you are awesome,

    Gaby

    Hi Kimberly!
I saw you on the Today Show this morning and immediately went to your website to learn more. The one thing I noticed was that a lot of your recipes call for spinach. I can’t eat spinach (even the smallest amount gives me a terrible stomach ache). Is there another green that you would suggest replacing it with? Maybe kale? Also, any ideas why my body could be responding so terribly to spinach? I ate it multiple times a week for years, until I suddenly couldn’t eat it anymore. I’ve asked my Dr. but so far no ideas. Just curious.
    Thanks! :)

  63. Diane May 16, 2011 at 5:17 pm #

    Kimberly,
Can your green smoothie be made in a juicer?

  64. Rebecca May 16, 2011 at 6:11 pm #

I am buying your book! Your kind patience and answers to everyone is amazing – you look fabulous and quite honestly – It sounds so worth it to me! So everyone – if you are thrilled with her information – why not buy the book? Free advice is great but I bet there’s a TON more unbelievably fab info in that book!

  65. Jennifer May 16, 2011 at 6:37 pm #

    Hi Kimerly,
I’m interested in trying some of your smoothie recipes, especially the Glowing Green Smoothie! However, right now I can’t afford to purchase a Vitamix blender. Do you have any other blender suggestions that would be more budget friendly??

    • Jennifer May 16, 2011 at 6:38 pm #

      Sorry…Kimberly :)

  66. Jacy May 18, 2011 at 4:20 pm #

Hi Kimberly! You are fantastic! Can’t wait to read your book, and I have already told my sis-in-law about you!
I bought all the ingredients for the Glowing Green Smoothie, but I have a quick question. I bought the container of organic Spinach at Costco, but it’s not in a “bunch” or “head”… it’s just all the leaves in a container. Do you know approx how many cups of spinach I need? Or is there another way to measure out the spinach?

    Thanks so much!!!

  67. Cheryl May 18, 2011 at 4:54 pm #

    Hi Kimberly

I have a question can you recommend a substitute for the banana in the glowing green smoothie
    Thanks so much

    Hi Kimberly!

I have lost almost 100 lbs and am always looking for a great new nutritious start to my day as I blog about all of my endeavors. My only problem is that I have oral allergy syndrome where I’m not actually allergic to apples and pears but I’m allergic to the pollen proteins from them! crazy! Any suggestions for changing out the apple and pear so I don’t end up with an itchy throat & ears?!

    Thanks so much!!

    Krystyn

  69. Rita May 20, 2011 at 5:11 pm #

Thanks for the recipe. How many servings does it make? Can’t wait to try it.

  71. Alicia June 9, 2011 at 2:37 pm #

What is the best thing to freeze smoothies in? I’m new to smoothies so I’m not sure if there are special bags or containers or something else.

I’m going to be making the Glowing Green Smoothie today and I am SOOO excited!

  72. Katie June 13, 2011 at 7:29 pm #

    Kim:
I’ve been taking the supplements and following alot of your advice in the Beauty Detox Solution. It’s great, and you’re fabulous. I just can’t seem to acquire a taste for the Glowing Green Smoothie. I usually don’t have a problem with green drinks, but this one just doesn’t go down easily. I so badly want to like it! Do you have any advice? I don’t like celery at all, could that be the problem for me? Also, are you opposed to the Naked brand green goddess juice or the Odwalla green juice? Thanks for any insight!

  73. Ang June 14, 2011 at 4:41 am #

I popped over here from “peas and thank you”. I’m always looking for a new way to jazz up my smoothies and I must say, this one covers everything I’m after for my daily dose of goodness. Thanks for sharing it with us.

  74. Devora June 19, 2011 at 5:31 pm #

    Hi,
Would it be possible to post approximate amounts in weight of the greens for the smooth? I can’t seem to get the proportions right, and sometimes it doesn’t taste great.
    Thanks

  75. Connie June 21, 2011 at 2:29 am #

    Kimberly,

I am excited about your book and have been reading and sharing with my family. I will be making the smoothie soon and would like to know, aproximately how many ounces should I drink as a serving?

Also, my mother is elderly, this Thursday she will be 88 and I would like to know can she drink the same amount of ounces that you recommend in general.

I know that I am sure to have many more questions.

    Your book is AWESOME!

Adding Cilantro, Mint and 1/2 lime is great too.

Can you please tell me why I need to core the apple and pear? Thx.

    Hi Kimberly,

Today was the first time I tried GGS. I substituted apple with apricots, lettuce with cucumber, banana with berries, and added some cilantro to the mix. It gives an immediate cooling effect and tastes soo delicious and amazing. I even had my mom try it and she loved it. So wanted to extend our heartfelt thanks to you with a big hug. We cannot wait to experiment more with different veggies and fruits. Last but not the least, I used “oster” blender and it still blended everything so smoothly.

Question – Would cauliflowers, different kind of gourds or squashes be a good idea to add/substitute this smoothie with? would it still have the same nutritional value?

  80. Jessica July 5, 2011 at 2:50 pm #

I just added mint to my last batch of GGS! It’s so refreshing especially in heat and humid Michigan! Thank you Kimberly!

I prepare my ones for two or three days. If I need them for more days I freeze them. Very easy.

I love the Beauty Detox! I have lost the 10 lbs that I’ve been fighting with for awhile! I’m 44 and the mother of four so this is a major victory in fighting aging and weight gain with everything I’ve got!! I feel fantastic and love the recipes (espcially the Raw Chickpea-less Hummus Dip!). My fiance enjoys the healthy food too….but has yet to try the GGS. He sees me drinking it and says “Your poop must be horrendous!” LOL He jokes when it’s time for him to go “detox.” All that to say he is very supportive and doesn’t mind when I wear my bikini, which is so much more fun for me with those pesky 10 pounds gone. Thanks Kimberly for your refreshing attitude and fantastic information. I read your blog and Twitter every day!!

  84. Din July 17, 2011 at 4:45 pm #

Currently I use for the GGS & GGJ fresh greens and fruits directly out of granny’s garden. So delicious – it makes such a difference to use super fresh things.
Thank you for all the great ideas and recipes!

  85. Manuela July 21, 2011 at 6:01 pm #

I don’t have a vitamix. Could I use my juicer? I don’t do bananas and could substitute berries.

  86. Bfast July 21, 2011 at 8:16 pm #

Hey, Just wondering if I can put frozen bluberries in the smoothie?

  87. Bobby July 25, 2011 at 7:26 pm #

    Hi Kimberly,

I have been drinking green smoothies using a Vita-Mix for 3 years and thought I knew everything I needed to know.
Last week I accidentally switched the TV from Bloomberg News to the Today Show and saw you talk about proper order of eating foods and “traffic jams” and I was intrigued.
I immediately bought your book on line and read it in one day, and I was amazed! I’ve been doing it all wrong (adding an omega 3 raw egg and hemp protein powder to my morning green smoothie for instance)

Anyway, your book has raised my healthy food consumption to a whole new level and I have to read it again to just begin to incorporate all of the helpful information you provide.

Lastly, on the same day I discovered you and your book a new Fairway opened up in my neighborhood on 86th Street and 2nd Avenue in NYC. I took one look at their enormous organic produce section and nearly fainted! Talk about synchronicity…….

  88. ***** July 27, 2011 at 8:24 am #

I have been drinking the GG Smoothie and jogging (new for me) for about 6 wks. I love it and I feel better but my skin is still terrible and I have not lost any weight! Could I still be detoxing? By the way I drink a min. of 24 onces a day.

  89. Chrissy July 28, 2011 at 10:20 pm #

Great recipe! Can I drink the smoothie for breakfast? Or do I need to add some protein with my breakfast like a hard boiled egg?

  90. Jean July 29, 2011 at 10:53 am #

Hi, i am a 36 year old female and about 18 months my hair all fell out over a matter of a few months which was heart breaking. My nails too hace become paper thin. I have had ever test under the sun and everything says I am healthy. The only thing they have found is some antibodies on my thyroid although my thyroid functions fine so cant be treated. One week ago I started the green smoothies and LOVE them. I am hoping they will strengthen my nails and help my hair to grow back. Have you heard people have success with alopecia? Also why do you say no melon?

  91. Cheryl Hayes July 29, 2011 at 10:50 pm #

I am going to start having the green smoothie for breakfast but I have a couple of questions. First how long should I wait before eating anything else? And is it okay to work out after drinking the green smoothie? Thank you for your time and for sharing your knowledge with all of us. :)

    Hi. :)
I love this recipe but I had read somewhere that for digestive and overall health benefit that apples are the only fruit you should combine when juicing vegetables…is this true? I’m a little confused with all the different info out there. Thanks!!

    Hi, Kim,
I tried your smothie for the first time today, i love it, i put basil instead of cilantro, i think ill try putting mint next time,
i have a question, in your book it says that it yields 60 onces, but i had only around half that, i wonder if i should put more water?
i have a really good blender “ninja”, it has 6 blades, i would really recommend it for making this.

  97. Jen August 19, 2011 at 4:43 am #

Hi Kim! I just read the article in the Daily News and cannot wait to buy your book! This is just what I have been talking about needing in my life. I was wondering about the produce in your recipe, is organic necessary or just recommended? I am on a budget and organic produce is not always cost-effective for our family.

  98. Allison August 19, 2011 at 6:54 pm #

    Hi Kim,

I read your book and Im getting ready to start the program. I am a little confused where to start. Should I be following the “Blossoming Beauty” phase???? I am a decent healthy eater who is very active with excersise, just looking to really get lean and toned and have that healthy glow!!!! Can I be having this famous “Smoothie” In the morning? or should I be following your food plan with the rolled oat cereal??? etc… Also can you just advise me on what my main focus should be in the 1st phase. Is it correct to say NO GLUTEN, NO DAIRY, Limited ANIMAL PROTEIN, and NO FRUIT???? please explain the no fruit issue!!!! Thanks so much!
    -Allison

  99. Courtney August 22, 2011 at 8:38 pm #

    Hi Kim,

Heard about you through Fergie/Josh Duhamel and came straight to your site…so I haven’t seen you on GMA. Couple of questions:

    1. Is it supposed to look like green Sludge?

I have a little better than basic blender but I blended for about 30 minutes and now it’s sitting in my freezer to cool before I drink it. But it does look more like sludge then a juice; is that normal?

    2. The recipe made almost 45 oz. Is that correct?

I don’t think I could get that down to save my life.

Little background bout me: I have an auto-immune arthritis and while at one point I may have been close, I’m not highly alkaline (in fact, prob. highly acidic). The arthritis robs me of all my energy–not to mention, it’s painful.

I’m looking to alkalize and get more energy in a big way…but this doesn’t taste so great to me. Do you think it’s just that I haven’t been in a place of high veggie consumption lately?

Should I just force it down for a while? Am I really the only one that will have to do that? Every comment raves about it. Am I doing something wrong? What might you recommend to make it better for me for the beginning.

Thanks so much for sharing all of your helpful knowledge.

    ~Courtney

P.S. Haven’t looked, but do you have any opinions on Krill Oil?

I love your blog and am a college student saving up to buy your book soon! I do have a question though, since being a college and having money tight and very little time in between school and work, I was wondering if I am ever in a pinch is the Bolthouse Farms Green Goodness smoothie ever a healthy substitute to the glowing green smoothie? I have tried it and the ingredients seem similar. Thanks!

  101. Heather August 27, 2011 at 1:41 am #

The GGS is amazing! I usually divide the recipe in half, and that serving literally keeps me FULL for most of the day! Another plus, it has also reduced my sugar cravings. I assume these beneficial effects are due to all the nutrients?

  102. Trim September 2, 2011 at 4:46 am #

I want to have this recipe! Knowing what diabetic person have another healthy choice to be fit, is such a great discovery. I like it when you said “If you are diabetic and prefer to cut out all high glycemic fruit, you can omit the banana. Otherwise, I suggest keeping it in, as it adds a nice consistency and taste”. Very nice of you.

Thank you for the help and inspiration!

hi.. love the smoothie… i saw that you have desserts somewhere as well how do i get the recipes for that.. do you have any suggestions for me as far what i should eat to lose weight and become more fertile by any chance?? thanks a bunch ..

  106. Amy September 30, 2011 at 1:56 pm #

Hi Kimberly. I was so excited to finally get a Vitamix just to try your Glowing Green Smoothie. I made a batch last night for my and my husband to enjoy this mornig and did NOT like the results at all. It was as if the lettuce and spinach rotted in the mix over night. What did I do wrong??? I stored them in ready to go plastic glasses with saran wrap over top – should I have used a different container? Should I try it again??

Also, your recipe says to blend the lettuce and the spinach until smooth on a low speed. Should I gradually increase that to a higher speed to make it smoother? I still had large pieces of the spinach that sort of stayed around after a sip of the smoothie.

    Thanks for your reply.

    Amy

What is your take on that?

I decided to try your smoothie after seeing your interview on GDLA with Jillian. I made it from memory and now realize I have missed some ingredients. Is this ok or will I not gain the full benefits? Also, do you have nutritional/calorie information available on your website for it? Thank you for the inspiration.:)

Is this a good smoothie for people with hypothyroidism? What are some other suggestions you have for foods/nutrients that really support thyroid function? What are some foods to avoid? I take medication for my thyroid; however, I would like natural alternatives, as well.

    Thanks so much!

  117. Vanessa October 31, 2011 at 11:24 am #

    Hi Kimberly!
I heard Amy from the Bobby Bones Show (morning radio program in Austin, TX) recommending your smoothie/book so I started drinking one every morning. After just two days I noticed a dramatic difference in my skin…it was awesome! I have a concern, though…I’m a thin person, probably a little underweight, and have been my whole life. I know the smoothie helps you lose weight, but I don’t have any extra weight to lose! Should I be concerned about this? I’d actually like to gain a little weight. Should I make any changes to the smoothie or be concerned about losing weight if I’m already at my ideal weight?
Currently reading your book and loving it!
    Vanessa

I want to try your green smoothie recipe, but I’d like to check if it is safe for breastfeeding mothers?

    • Kimberly Snyder November 3, 2011 at 5:32 pm #

      Hi Sheena,
Greens and fruits are very beneficial foods, but you don’t want to make too drastic of dietary changes while breastfeeding and go into detox mode. You can check w your doctor first! xx

I have recently been diagnosed with stomach ulcers and read the benefits of cabbage juice in healing ulcers. Can I incorporate cabbage to make the green smoothie? Possibly replacing the lettuce with cabbage? When I learned that I had ulcers, I immediately thought of the Glowing Green Smoothie as a possible remedy.
    Thanks!

Hi Natalie, just use a green apple to replace all the fruit and liquid stevia as needed to sweeten. xx

Hi! I just got your book and Im very excited to change my eating habits althought i know its going to be very hard.. I want to ask you about my kids, is it the same for them as me? should I not give them milk and dairy anymore? I also want to ask you about some options for lunch because I live in Mexico and I dont have too much access to organic and all the wonderful variety that you have on places like whole foods.. thnk you very much

    Kimberly,

I have been following your Phase 1 pretty much to a tee for about 6 weeks now. I feel great! I have moved on to Phase 2 now, however, each and every time I drink the (8 oz) GGS (on an empty stomach), I feel terribly nauseous and end up throwing it all up. This has happened now every morning for the past 4 days, leaving me totally famished. Please advise me on why the throwing up is happening, and what I can do to remedy it. Also, can you tell me what I can eat after I feel so darn hungry after throwing up all of my GGS. I am confused as to why this should be happening since I have been following this green diet for several weeks now. I hope this does not mean I can never drink the GGS. Thank you.

    • MB November 5, 2011 at 3:09 pm #

      Kimberly,
Still throwing up. And still ONLY after I consume the GGS. I thought maybe if I had a piece of Millet bread toast to coat the stomach it might help, but alas it has not. Your insight and suggestions for what I can do would be very helpful. Thank you.

I just shared your book on my blog. Everyone must hear about this. I’ll talk about the transitions, tips, and benefits as I go along getting green!

Hi Kimberly, i was wondering if I drink GGS in the morning as a breakfast replacement, then can I still eat anything else? How long do I have to wait to eat a proper meal? I am a big breakfat eater. If i want to lose weifht, can I also dribk GGS as my substitute for dinner? Thanks

  125. Jessica November 4, 2011 at 1:21 am #

    Kimberly,

Are there going to be different effects if I do not use organic fruits and veggies? What is the difference between organic and non organic?

  126. Luna November 4, 2011 at 6:03 am #

Hi Kimberly, I love you blog, it’s very helpful… I’m staring the Detox this week, and will be trying the Glowing Greens Smoothie. I do have a question, I love/need my coffee in the morning, is the first thing I do. Is this going to interfere with my Detox?? Can I still drink coffee after the Smoothie? Thank you in advance for your input!

    • nikki November 4, 2011 at 1:00 pm #

      I second that question!

  127. nikki November 4, 2011 at 12:59 pm #

Hi Kimberly! I was wondering if you can use a juicer for the green smoothie and make it a juice rather than a smoothie. I’m at college right now and only have a juicer and a vitamix is out of my price range right now :)

  128. Beth November 5, 2011 at 3:54 am #

Do you have any suggestions for pregnancy? Would the green smoothie still be a good option for breakfast? Thank you!!

  129. ryan November 6, 2011 at 5:49 pm #

    hi kimberly!

i’m so excited to try the green smoothie recipe – i have a handheld blender and a juicer currently – will either of these be sufficient?

    thanks!
    ryan

    • Kimberly Snyder November 6, 2011 at 10:47 pm #

You need a good blender to make the Glowing Green Smoothie recipe. My preference is a vitamix, but if you cant afford it,
then you may have to add more water to your blender, so that it doesn’t come out so chunky.

  130. Karin Eirosius November 7, 2011 at 5:16 am #

Hi Kimberly, I have not been eating healthily lately and this might just do the trick to get me back on track. But does it have to be taken as the first intake of the day? I have had a breakfast of coffee and high fiber cereal for more years than I care to remember and it will be a hard habit to break. Will I still get the benefits if I drink your smoothie for lunch instead? Thanks!

  131. Loren Ryan November 7, 2011 at 10:32 am #

    Hi Kimberly,

I made your Green Smoothie today, is there anything I could put in it to make it a bit sweeter. Say honey? or Lime juice?

I make smoothies for myself everyday, they are delicious. I put frozen raspberries, Banana and low fat probiotic yogurt..are these good too?

    Thanks fro your time,
    Loren Ryan

    Hi Kim,
I just heard about you today, and so far everything sounds really useful!
One question though, I often make spinach drinks in a juicer, is there a difference in the final product with a blender?

  133. nancy November 10, 2011 at 9:24 am #

Hi Kim! I recently saw your interview on E! recently and got interested in knowing more about your principles. I was wondering for the GGS do you recommend having it for dinner or just for breakfast or lunch?

Just found out about you, will try the green smoothie. Been gaining weight steadily since April when I had a really bad knee injury with a long recovery, still can’t exercise, still need to have surgery on it. Want to be in the best health possible to shorten my recovery and start distance walking again! I used to think 4 to 6 miles was a nice little walk – now I’m wiped after 10 minutes!

  136. Catherine November 12, 2011 at 9:24 am #

Hi – I made a half batch of your recipe for GGS today for me and my boyfriend. It was good. My BF loved it. I thought it could be sweeter. Can I add pinapple? If so how much can I add? I know you said it should be 80/20 so do I have to remove some other fruit?
Also where can I read the benefits of each ingredient in the smoothie. My boyfriend said why spinach and not …. grapes for example and all I could say is because spinach has good “stuff in it” …just drink it. :)

  137. michele November 15, 2011 at 10:18 am #

    Hi Kim!
Is it ok to sprinkle hemp shell hearts on top of my glowing green smoothie right before I drink it? I thoroughly enjoy reading your book ,I carry it around with me all the time. I also bought a few to give to my friends and family members. I want to share all the wonderful knowledge it contains!
    Thanks so much!

    • Kimberly Snyder November 16, 2011 at 8:28 pm #

Thank you Christine, that’s great! I would save the hemp shell hearts for your salads. :)

  139. Rony November 16, 2011 at 9:50 am #

Hi Kimberly. My wife, and I saw you on Good Day LA a couple weeks back, and Jillian was talking about loosing weight. We watched your segment, and at first I was a little hesitant about this concoction of greens. However, I read your blog, and read all the success stories on your website, and we decided to try it. So today was our 1st day, and I have to admit the Glowing Green Smoothie was GREAT! We will be drinking it every morning. I just wish we had the Vitamix blender. But hopefully we can win the Vitamix blender contest! Cant wait to try some of your other recipes. Thank you for making this recipe available.

    • Kimberly Snyder November 16, 2011 at 8:26 pm #

HI Rony, that is wonderful!!! I’m so glad you guys are on the GGS train. :)

  140. Ranae Hulse November 16, 2011 at 3:11 pm #

    Kimberly,
I read your book and it completely opened my eyes and changed my view on what I am wating. I started the Glowing Green Smoothie today, but I am in Japan so I changed up the ingredients a little bit. I don’t have much access to organic ingredients but I thought it was better than nothing. Anyways, I added coconut water, kiwi, and strawberries. I thought it came out very good. I was having trouble finding a magnesium oxide supplement, can you suggest a place to get it. Thanks so much!

    • Kimberly Snyder November 16, 2011 at 8:23 pm #

Hi Ranae, yes, get the best you can and wash really well! With the fruit in there, you really don’t need the coconut water. Also, check amazon or an online retailer that ships to Japan for the mag07. xx

  141. Sarah P November 17, 2011 at 2:50 pm #

    Kimberly,
I have been combating digestive illnesses for years. I am committed to naturally grown, non-processed food, or at least as much as my intolerances will allow. My question: Would you please recommend alternatives to the apple/pear additions to the green smoothie? The sugars in fruit are generally difficult for me to digest, so a list of those which might have a similar effect would be great. Also, do you stick to the same recipe? Thank you.

  142. Linda Irene November 17, 2011 at 8:34 pm #

I have just made my second batch of GGS; I am using Kale, Spinach & Romaine in equal proportions, a single apple, pear & banana; I also add fresh pineapple for sweetness with the lemon juice. Once I have made the GGS, I portion it into 2 cup servings and freeze it; in the morning I thaw it slightly and then put it back into the vitamix, mixing it up to make an ice cold smoothie ~ it is yummy!!! Is this a good portion amount to have each day??? I am not sure how much to drink each day and like everyone else I am use to “serving sizes” yet trying to break away from that. Thank you for your time and help with this question.

    • Kimberly Snyder November 23, 2011 at 11:45 am #

A good basic serving size is at least 24 ounces a day. You can work up to 32 ounces. xx

  144. Adam Daigler November 19, 2011 at 9:17 pm #

    Hey Kim,
I’ve heard a lot of conflicting reports on mixing Veggies with Fruits and how it’s not good to be doing.. “Fruits and vegetables require different digestive enzymes, which tend to neutralize each other, so these too are best taken at separate meals.” I’ve been drinking a ggs everyday for 2 weeks now but just wondering about this.
    Thanks!!

    • Kimberly Snyder November 23, 2011 at 10:54 am #

      HI Adam,
Fruits and green vegetables digest wonderfully together. This has been the consensus of top leading natural eating pioneers, including Dr. Ann Wigmore, Dr. Norman Walker, Dr. Gabriel Cousens, etc. etc. You don’t want to mix the fruit with starchy veggies though. xx

  145. 5ftawesome November 21, 2011 at 4:09 pm #

    Hi –

I only have a juicer and not a blender. Will this work if I just juice everything?

    Thanks!

    • Kimberly Snyder November 23, 2011 at 10:49 am #

If you juice it you miss out on the fiber. Juices are beneficial as well, but not exactly the same…. Check out the discussion in The Beauty Detox Solution on the difference between the GGS and the GGJ.

  146. Brittany November 23, 2011 at 5:18 pm #

    Hi Kimberly!

I am currently reading your book & absolutely love it! I am a vegan, and eat incredibly healthy, and experienced similar issues you described before converting to the Beauty Detox Solution. All of the information in the book is so helpful, I can’t wait to see the results of switching up the order of my food intake, and adding supplements. I have tried many of the recipes, and they are absolutely delicious! When I made the Glowing Green Smoothie, the fruit did not seem to mask the “lettuce” taste. It was very thick, and it a long time to consume. I see so many people commenting on how much they love it, do you have any suggestions?

    Thanks!

    Brittany

  147. Jessica November 24, 2011 at 5:15 pm #

Kimberly, do you encourage/discourage people to adjust or play with your GGS recipe, or should the ingredient list be adhered to rather strictly?

My question comes from wondering: why the romaine lettuce? What are the benefits that romane lettuce adds? I was thinking of eliminating tHat, possibly adding kale or some other type of green. And I thought about mixing up the fruit too, because I’m not fond of pears – thought I’d add berries.

Of course, i know I can do this but I thought you might know something I don’t about specific benefits of romaine lettuce and pears specifically, and possibly about the amounts you have n the recipe of each of the ingredients.

    Thanks!

  148. Beth November 26, 2011 at 10:36 am #

    Hey Kim:

I just read your book last night and found it to be so enlightening and encouraging so I wanted to thank you first and foremost for that.

Today I made a GGS, although I did modify it a bit:
    - 1/2 cup of water
    - 2 ice cubes
    - 2 cups of romaine lettuce
    - 1 apple
    - 1 medium ripe banana

    Delicious!

Light to heavy all the way!! : )

  150. Silvia November 29, 2011 at 10:06 pm #

Hi, Kimberly. I just have a quick question. Is it necessary to core the apple and pear for the smoothie? I know Vitamix can blend the whole fruit easily and it would save us all a bit of work.

    Thanks.

    • Kimberly Snyder December 5, 2011 at 3:59 pm #

Hi Silvia, you can buy one of those apple corers so you only press down and core the apple in one fell swoop! You could blend the whole fruit, but the seeds may be bitter and have unfavorable properties. xx

    Hi Kim!
Yesterday i was wondering what to dinner, and made me a yummy smoothie, but i don’t know if it’s a good mix. Those are the ingredients:
    1 Orange, 1 Apple, 1 Celery Leaf and a bunch of spinaches…

    Thankyou!

    Hi Kimberly,

Just made the smoothie for the first time today and loved it. Is it okay to add fresh mint or a little fresh ginger just for flavor?

    Thanks :)

      Yes!

  154. Yolanda December 3, 2011 at 1:12 pm #

Hi Kim, I love your website and have learned lots from you, thank you. Today I tried the GGS for the first time….I love it….hope to see results in a few weeks. I am also hooked on the immunity tea, cayenne pepper is my new fav seasoning for many things. I was wondering if it would be okay to add to the GGS? Thanks for all that you do….

  155. Lissa December 3, 2011 at 8:30 pm #

What is a good alternative to the banana? I do enjoy smoothies, but it is difficult to find an alternative to the banana. I know they are really good for me, but I just can’t tolerate them. Thanks for your help!

    • Kimberly Snyder December 5, 2011 at 11:47 pm #

HI Lissa, you can just skip the banana! Add a bit more of the other greens. With the apple and pear, it will still be yummy. xx

  156. Fernanda December 6, 2011 at 11:21 am #

    Hola Kimberly,
Just drank my first smoothie this morning and it tastes so good, fresh and delicious. So… how should I drink it, all through the morning? and how much should I drink daily?
    Thanks Kimberly!

  157. Jen December 6, 2011 at 1:36 pm #

Ok so I’ve finally made my first Glowing Green Smoothie in my new Vitamix! It is very frothy and therefore a little difficult to drink. Any suggestions on how to make it not so frothy? Maybe I didn’t use enough spinach or celery? Hmmm… any suggestions are much appreciated! I LOVE the taste though…yum!

    Hi Kim–

I am allergic to apples. Is there something else I can use in its place?

    Thanks!

    • Kimberly Snyder December 12, 2011 at 8:12 am #

Use skip it and use more pear, or try blueberries. xx

  159. Denise December 7, 2011 at 7:33 pm #

Hi Kimberly. Yikes! My eyelashes and eyebrows are falling out. I have been doing the green smoothies for several weeks now, usually about 16oz sometimes 20 oz a day. I have not been perfect with the combining but working on it. I started the magnesium oxide for a few weeks, but stopped when I noticed the hair loss (not on my head though) The vegetarian enzymes bloated my stomach so I stopped those also. I have lost 2 or 3 pounds which is good, but I don’t need to lose much. My face has been clearer also. Any thoughts on the eyelash and eyebrow hair loss?
    Thanks–Denise

    • Kimberly Snyder December 12, 2011 at 8:05 am #

Hi Denise, glad to hear about the good symptoms. The GGS has a great cleansing and alkalizing affect. I’m not sure if you completely changed the rest of your diet, but in any case you should also be employing the cleansing aids to help balance your body. P & E Salad is key, as well as enemas/colonics to help clear out acids and toxins which can contribute to unfavorable side affects. Also be sure to take a multi vitamin/multi-mineral with the full range of B vitamins. xx

  160. Daniela December 8, 2011 at 10:39 am #

    Hello Kimberly!

I have an industrial (professional) juicer, and would assume that it would be perfect for this smoothie. However, I heard that a lot of the “good stuff” get’s discarded from a juicer. Is this true? I could always take about a tablespoon of all the pulp etc and mix it into the drink, what do you think?

Thanks for everything you do! I’m equally as passionate about achieving great skin though food and drink and it’s so nice to find a place online where I can indulge in my passion. Thanks again!

    • Kimberly Snyder December 12, 2011 at 7:54 am #

      Hi Daniela,
I always refer to nature. How do you find fruits and veggies in nature? With the fiber and juice. If all you do is juice, you are modifying nature, as you are separating the juice and the fiber.
